Asbury's athletic department boasts of 17 varsity sports programs, the largest such program among all the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics universities in the state of Kentucky. These sports include men's and women's basketball, soccer, golf, tennis, cross-country, track and field, volleyball, baseball, softball, cheerleading, and esports.
The Asbury Eagles have had some pretty impressive achievements in the recent past. In 2019, the men's soccer team set a school record for fewest goals allowed in a season with just nine. They also tied for the regular-season championship in the RSC West, and their head coach, Ben Andrews, earned the conference's 2019 Coach of the Year award.
The women's basketball team has also had some notable success in recent years. During the 2017-18 season, they won the River States Conference Championship and advanced to the NAIA Division II Women’s Basketball National Tournament for the third time in four years.
The Asbury Eagles baseball team has achieved a great deal of success in the last decade. Under the current coach, Manny Cervantes, the team has had three conference championships, three national tournament bids, and one national tournament victory.
Outside of competition, the Asbury Eagles are known for their strong commitment to good sportsmanship. The "Asbury way" prioritizes character development, and coaches and administrators aim to create an environment that allows athletes to thrive both on and off the field.
In conclusion, the Asbury Eagles may not be among the most well-known intercollegiate athletics programs like those from Division I universities, but they have made a name for themselves and continue to represent the institution and its values admirably. With numerous accolades and achievements to their name, the Asbury Eagles can definitely hold their own against any other team in their division.
