Born on August 24, 1970, in Downey, California, Henderson began his athletic career as a wrestler. He was a two-time NCAA Division I All-American wrestler and competed for Team USA in the 1992 and 1996 Olympic Games. After his wrestling career, Henderson transitioned into MMA and made his debut in 1997.
Henderson quickly made a name for himself in the sport, winning championships in various promotions and weight classes. He won the welterweight championship in the now-defunct Strikeforce promotion and also became the middleweight champion in Pride Fighting Championships.
Henderson also competed in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), where he fought some of the biggest names in the sport including Michael Bisping, Vitor Belfort, and Anderson Silva. In his iconic fight against Belfort at UFC 46, Henderson landed a vicious overhand right that knocked Belfort out and solidified his reputation as one of the hardest hitters in the sport.
In addition to his success as a fighter, Henderson is also highly respected as a coach. He founded his own gym, Team Quest, which has produced many accomplished fighters including UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic and former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley.
