The National Lacrosse League (NLL) is a professional indoor lacrosse league with teams based in the United States and Canada. Every year, eight teams compete for the chance to advance to the NLL Finals, where they battle it out for the Champion's Cup.

In 2014, the finals featured two teams that were no strangers to the championship game: the Rochester Knighthawks and the Calgary Roughnecks. The Knighthawks were appearing in their fourth straight NLL Finals, having won the previous two championships. The Roughnecks were making their third appearance in the finals, having won in 2004 and 2009.

The best-of-three series began on May 24th in Calgary, with the Roughnecks taking a 10-7 victory in front of a raucous home crowd. It was a close game throughout, with Calgary's Dane Dobbie scoring four goals and goaltender Mike Poulin making 39 saves to secure the win.

Game two took place a week later in Rochester, with the Knighthawks needing a win to force a decisive game three. They got just that, hammering Calgary 16-10 behind a nine-point performance from Cody Jamieson. The Knighthawks jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, evening up the series and setting up a winner-take-all showdown in Calgary.

The final game took place on June 7th, with both teams leaving it all on the field. Calgary struck first with a goal from Jeff Shattler, but Rochester responded with five unanswered goals to take control of the game. The Roughnecks battled back, tying the score at 8-8 midway through the fourth quarter. It looked like the game might be headed to overtime, but the Knighthawks' Johnny Powless scored the go-ahead goal with just over three minutes remaining. Rochester stalwart and eventual Hall of Famer Matt Vinc turned away all Calgary's chances in those final minutes to secure a third-straight championship, unseating the Roughnecks.

The 2014 NLL Finals showcased some of the best talent the league had to offer. Players like Jamieson, Dobbie, and Shattler displayed incredible skill and athleticism throughout the series. The games were fast-paced, high-scoring affairs that kept fans on the edge of their seats until the final whistle.

While lacrosse may not be as well-known as other sports like football or basketball, the NLL is a great showcase for the game's speed, agility, and physicality. The NLL Finals are a must-watch event for any sports fan, especially those looking for something new and exciting to add to their viewing repertoire. Captivating moments are always waiting when dealt with the unexpected, harness the impossible!
