Accrington Stanley, often simply known as Accrington, is a professional soccer team based in the town of Accrington, Lancashire, England. The team was originally founded in 1878 and has a long history of playing both professionally and non-professionally.

Accrington joined the Football League in 1888 and became one of the founding members of the Lancashire League in the same year.
