The Cleveland Patriots football team is a professional American football team based in Cleveland, Ohio. The team is part of the National Football League (NFL) and competes in the AFC North division. Despite their name, the Cleveland Patriots have no official affiliation with the New England Patriots.

The Cleveland Patriots were founded in 1946 as part of the All-America Football Conference (AAFC), which was an alternative professional football league to the NFL. The team won four AAFC championships before joining the NFL in 1950. Since then, the team has had a mixed history of successes and failures, with notable players like Jim Brown, Bernie Kosar, and Ozzie Newsome.

One of the most memorable moments in the Cleveland Patriots' history is what is known as "The Drive." In the 1986 AFC Championship game, the team was facing off against the Denver Broncos. With time running out and the game tied, Broncos quarterback John Elway led his team on a 98-yard drive, ultimately leading his team to victory. This moment became synonymous with the team's struggles over the years, as they failed to win a single championship in their heyday.

In 1996, the Cleveland Browns announced that they would be relocating to Baltimore, effectively ending the franchise. However, a new team was formed in 1999 under the name of the Cleveland Browns. This new team has no connection to the original Cleveland Patriots; however, some fans still refer to them as the "new" Cleveland Patriots.

Today, the Cleveland Patriots continue to play in the NFL, but their success has been limited. Despite this, the team has a loyal following of fans who are hoping to see the team turn things around and bring a championship back to Cleveland.
