Football Club Montreal, commonly known as FC Montreal, is a professional soccer team based in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The team competes in the USL Championship, which is the second division of the United States Soccer Pyramid, and serves as an affiliate club to the Montreal Impact of Major League Soccer (MLS).

FC Montreal was founded on February 13, 2015, as the reserve team for the Montreal Impact with the aim of developing young players for the first team while providing them with game experience at a professional level. The team's inaugural season began in March 2015, and since then, it has played its home games at various venues across Montreal, including Complexe sportif Claude-Robillard, Centre Nutrilait, and Stade Saputo.

Despite being a relatively new team, FC Montreal has already made significant contributions to Canadian soccer by providing a platform for young players to develop their skills and showcase their talent. The team has produced several notable players who have gone on to play for the Montreal Impact and other MLS teams, such as Ballou Tabla, Clement Bayiha, and Mathieu Choiniere.

In addition to its role as a development team, FC Montreal has also established itself as a competitive force in the USL Championship. In its first season, the team finished tenth in the Eastern Conference and narrowly missed out on a playoff spot. However, in 2016, FC Montreal struggled to replicate its success from the previous year and finished last in the Eastern Conference.

Following a disappointing 2016 season, FC Montreal underwent a rebranding process and changed its name to the Montreal Impact U23. Under this new identity, the team began to focus on developing even younger players and providing them with a clear pathway to the Montreal Impact first team.

Despite its ups and downs, FC Montreal has undoubtedly left its mark on Canadian soccer. As it continues to provide young players with opportunities to develop their skills and compete at a professional level, it is likely that the team will produce even more talented players who will go on to represent Canada on the international stage.
