George Groves is a former British professional boxer who competed in the super-middleweight division. He has had an illustrious career, with many notable achievements and accolades.

Born on March 26, 1988, in Hammersmith, London, Groves began his amateur boxing career at the age of 18. He quickly established himself as one of the top prospects in the country, winning several domestic titles.

In 2008, Groves turned professional, signing with boxing promoter Frank Warren. His professional debut was against Kirilas Psonko, which he won by TKO in the second round.

Groves' biggest breakthrough came in 2011 when he defeated James DeGale to win the British and Commonwealth super-middleweight titles. This victory sparked a rivalry between the two fighters, with the pair facing off again in a grudge rematch in 2014 - which Groves won via unanimous decision.

One of the defining moments of Groves' career came in 2013 when he faced world champion Carl Froch for his IBF and WBA super-middleweight titles. In a brutal fight, Groves was leading on the scorecards before being stopped in the ninth round. The bout became known to many boxing fans as one of the best fights in British boxing history.

In 2017, Groves finally reached the pinnacle of the sport when he captured the WBA super-middleweight title by defeating Fedor Chudinov via TKO. He subsequently entered the World Boxing Super Series (WBSS), a tournament featuring the world's best super-middleweights.

In the WBSS semi-final, Groves fought Chris Eubank Jr. in a highly anticipated bout. Once again, Groves emerged victorious, winning by unanimous decision. In the final he faced Callum Smith, but unfortunately, he was not able to complete the contest due to a dislocated shoulder.

Nonetheless, Groves left an indelible mark on the sport of boxing. He possessed incredible skills and heart inside the squared circle and was always game to fight anyone. His battles with DeGale, Froch, Eubank Jr., and Smith captivated boxing fans around the globe.

Today, George Groves continues to be a respected figure in the sport of boxing. He currently works as a pundit for British television networks and owns his own management company, which provides guidance and support to rising fighters.
