As soccer continues to grow in popularity across the United States, many universities are developing exceptional teams that hold their own against other collegiate athletes. Howard University Men's Soccer is one such team.

Howard University Men's Soccer dates back to 1970 when it was created by head coach Lincoln "Tiger" Phillips. Under his leadership, the program grew tremendously, achieving national prominence, with an NCAA championship win in Division II in 1974.

Over the years, the program has had some significant changes, including a brief hiatus from 1983-2012. However, since its return in 2012, the men's soccer team has undergone a renaissance, becoming the first HBCU (Historically Black College and University) to win a Black College National Championship in soccer.

The team comprises around 23 players who represent various backgrounds and countries, including Jamaica, Haiti, Brazil, and Colombia. Despite the diversity, the team is united by their love for soccer, and they continually strive to be at the top of their game.

One of the team's notable feats was the 2019 season with back-to-back wins in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Championships. This victory earned them a ticket to the NCAA tournament, where they went on to compete against top division teams like Connecticut Huskies and Georgetown Hoyas.

Howard University Men's Soccer has produced players who have gone on to great heights in their careers. Nicklaw Ndiaye, a 2011 graduate, won the 2012 Major League Soccer SuperDraft, while Men's Soccer Coach Phillip Gyau played for the U.S. men's national team in the 1990s.

Soccer has become increasingly popular across colleges in America, attracting fan bases and helping to produce world-class players. The Howard University Men's Soccer team is one of those college programs committed to developing and producing outstanding soccer talent. With more than half a century of experience, the team has undoubtedly become a proud representative of Howard University on both national and international stages.
