Jimi Manuwa is a name that needs no introduction in the world of MMA. Known for his powerful striking and knockout ability, he has stood tall as one of the most exciting fighters to grace the Octagon.

Born on February 18, 1980, in Sacramento, California, Jimi Manuwa grew up in London, England. His fighting career began while he was still a teenager when he started training in martial arts at the age of 14. He began with boxing and then moved on to kickboxing before finally settling into MMA.

Manuwa’s early days were spent competing in local amateur MMA events in the UK, where he quickly caught the attention of the country’s top promotors with his explosive striking skills. In 2008, he made his professional debut with Cage Rage, where he won his fight against Ryan Robinson via TKO in the first round.

From there, Manuwa went on to compete in multiple promotions, including UCMMA, BAMMA, and eventually the UFC. He first fought in the UFC in 2012, winning his debut fight against Kyle Kingsbury via TKO in the second round. Since then, Manuwa has been involved in some of the most electrifying fights in the promotion, racking up a total of 17 wins – 15 by way of knockout – and six losses throughout his career.

Manuwa’s distinctive striking style draws inspiration from his boxing and kickboxing background. His heavy hands, speed, and accuracy have been responsible for many of his knockouts. In 2014, Manuwa shocked the world when he knocked out Alexander Gustafsson in front of his home crowd in Stockholm, Sweden, with a perfectly placed left hook in the first round.

However, injuries and time out of the Octagon have hampered his progress. His last fight came in June 2019 when he lost to Aleksandar Rakic via KO in the first round. Since then, there has been no news of his return to fighting.
