Julius Indongo is a Namibian professional boxer who has made a significant impact in the sport since his debut in 2009. He has held various titles over the years, including the International Boxing Organization (IBO) light welterweight title, the World Boxing Association (WBA) super lightweight title, and the International Boxing Federation (IBF) super lightweight title.

Indongo was born on February 12, 1983, in Windhoek, Namibia, and grew up in Otjomuise, a suburb of the city. He started boxing at the age of 19 when he joined the Namibian National Team, where he learned and honed his skills.

In 2007, Indongo represented Namibia at the All-Africa Games held in Algiers, Algeria, where he won a bronze medal. This achievement marked the beginning of his rise to fame in the boxing world.

Indongo turned professional in 2009 and had his first fight against Edward Musonda, which he won by technical knockout. Since then, he has fought 25 professional fights, winning 23 of them, 13 by knockouts.

Indongo's big break came in December 2016 when he defeated Eduard Troyanovsky to win the IBF super lightweight title. The Russian was an undefeated champion going into the fight, and Indongo was considered an underdog. However, he managed to knock out Troyanovsky in the first round and secure the championship belt.

Indongo's victory over Troyanovsky paved the way for him to become a unified champion when he defeated Ricky Burns to win the WBA super lightweight title in April 2017. With that victory, he became only the second African boxer to hold two major titles simultaneously.

Despite his success, Indongo's reign as a unified champion was short-lived after losing his titles to Terence Crawford in August 2017 in a unification bout. Crawford knocked out Indongo in the third round to win the IBF, WBA, and WBC titles.

Indongo's loss to Crawford did not dampen his spirit as he continued to fight and defend his title. He won one of his last fights against Carltavius Jones in September 2020 by unanimous decision.

Julius Indongo's boxing career has been an inspiration to many aspiring boxers in Namibia and across the world. He has shown his fans and supporters that with hard work, dedication, and perseverance, anything is possible. Indongo remains an icon in the sports world, and his achievements have put Namibia on the map as a boxing powerhouse.
