The Kentucky IndyCar race, also known as the Kentucky Speedrome 225, was an annual event in the IndyCar series that took place at Kentucky Speedway from 2000 to 2011. The 1.5-mile track was known for its high-speed racing and thrilling finish, making it a fan favorite on the IndyCar calendar.

The Kentucky IndyCar race was first introduced to the IndyCar series in 2000 as a part of the Indy Racing League (IRL) championship. From 2003 to 2011, the race became a regular feature on the schedule and was known for its exciting wheel-to-wheel racing.

Over the years, the Kentucky IndyCar race produced some memorable moments, including several close finishes and surprise winners. In 2009, Ryan Briscoe won the race by just .016 seconds over rival Ed Carpenter, marking one of the closest finishes in IndyCar history.

In addition to being a favorite among fans, the Kentucky IndyCar race was also a critical stop on the IndyCar schedule. The tight, high-banked track allowed for plenty of passing and made it difficult for drivers to maintain their position, adding to the excitement of the race.

However, despite its popularity and success, the Kentucky IndyCar race was ultimately removed from the IndyCar schedule after the 2011 season due to financial issues and declining attendance.

Since its departure from the IndyCar schedule, the Kentucky Speedway has continued to host a variety of motorsports events, including NASCAR races, but the absence of the Kentucky IndyCar race has left a void in the hearts of many IndyCar fans.

Despite the loss of the Kentucky IndyCar race, the IndyCar series continues to thrive, with a growing number of events and a talented roster of drivers. And while we may never see the return of the Kentucky IndyCar race, its legacy will always remain a critical part of the IndyCar story.
