The New Mexico State Aggies are a Women's Division 1 basketball team representing the New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, New Mexico. The women’s basketball program is a proud member of the Western Athletic Conference (WAC).

The team competes in NCAA basketball games from November through March and boasts of a rich history that dates back several decades. They have won multiple conference championships and have made appearances at the NCAA Tournament.

In recent years, the team has gained considerable national attention for its outstanding performance on the court. The Aggies have been consistently ranked among the top programs in the WAC, with their current season being no different.

Under the leadership of head coach Brooke Atkinson, the team has continued to improve and make strides towards becoming a formidable contender in college women's basketball. Atkinson became the first female head coach in the history of the Aggie women’s basketball program in April of 2020 and has since introduced new strategies that reflect her focus on team growth.

One of the standout players on the team is Adrianna Henderson, who has been instrumental in leading the team to its current ranking. Henderson has consistently displayed exceptional skills in rebounding, scoring, and defense, making her one of the most valuable players in the WAC.

The team has played some remarkable games this season, including their win over Cal Baptist in January 2021, where they defeated CBU by 18 points. This performance was an excellent display of the team's potential.

New Mexico State was also recognized in February 2021 when the WAC named their center, Makayla Mabry, as the Player of the Week. Mabry averaged 15 points and eight rebounds in two games, cementing her status as one of the core players for the Aggies.

The Aggies are current rank second in the WAC standings, behind the California Baptist University Lancers, who ended the 2019-20 season as champions. With four regular-season games remaining, New Mexico State will look to carry their current momentum into the WAC Tournament, which will be held in Las Vegas from March 10-13, 2021.

In conclusion, the New Mexico State Aggies have continued to make significant strides towards becoming a force in college women's basketball. With exceptional individual players and a growing team spirit, the future looks bright for the program. Fans of the game can expect to see even greater things from the team in the coming years.
