On Saturday, November 9th, 2019, the Puget Sound Community School (PSCS) held its annual comedy benefit at The Pocket Theater in Seattle. The event featured local comedians who volunteered their time and talents to raise money for the school. And it was a huge success!

PSCS is a progressive, independent middle and high school serving students from greater Seattle since 1994. The school focuses on creating personalized education, supporting a diverse student body, teaching sustainability, and fostering creativity. The fundraising event was important for the school as it helps support scholarships for students, programs, and facilities.

Comedy shows are a popular and effective way to raise funds for non-profit organizations. It brings people together for an enjoyable evening of entertainment while giving back to the community. In this case, the event was also an opportunity for the school to showcase its commitment to creativity and innovative education techniques just like how comedic performers dare to think outside the box to generate laughs.

The line-up of comedians for PSCS Benefit included some big names like Brandon Davidson, who has performed on Comedy Central’s “Roast Battle,” and Emily Heller, who has written for numerous TV shows including “Barry” and “Secrets of the Universe with Neil deGrasse Tyson.” They were joined by local stand-up comedians Emmett Montgomery, Elicia Sanchez, Andrew Rivers, Noa Gavin, Josh Chambers and others.

From the moment the show began, the audience roared with laughter as comedians joked about topics ranging from politics, relationships, personal experiences, and even school life. The atmosphere was fun, relaxed and supportive with everyone enjoying the comic relief while contributing towards a great cause. The comedians were thrilled to entertain such a receptive crowd and help support a fantastic school dedicated to creating students well-equipped for life beyond academics.

The PSCS Comedy Benefit finale raised $14,000 that night. A testament to the generosity and dedication of the Seattle community in supporting education innovation and sustainable teaching practices. The event also highlighted the importance of community involvement- a crucial element for any non-profit organization like PSCS aiming to make an impact.

In conclusion, the Puget Sound Community School Benefit showcased how comedy can be used as a tool to not only provide entertainment but also generate funds for a worthy cause. It’s proof that there is a link between laughter and generosity, a connection that makes for an unforgettable evening.
