The Purdue Boilermakers Women's Basketball team is one of the most storied programs in College Women's Basketball. Established in 1976, the program has amassed an impressive list of accolades and achievements over the years.

One of the hallmarks of the Purdue program has been their consistency. Under the leadership of head coach Sharon Versyp, who took over in 2006, the Boilermakers have made 12 NCAA tournament appearances in the past 15 years. This includes a stretch from 1995-2009 where Purdue made the tournament every year except for two.

The program has also produced some of the best players in College Women's Basketball history. The most notable of these is probably Nnemkadi Ogwumike. Ogwumike played for Purdue from 2008-2012 and was a two-time All-American and the 2012 National Player of the Year. She went on to be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2012 WNBA Draft and has had a successful career in the league since then.

In addition to Ogwumike, there have been many other standout players to come through the Purdue program. Players like Stephanie White, Katie Douglas, and E'Twaun Moore have all gone on to have successful professional careers after playing at Purdue.

While the program has experienced plenty of success over the years, they are currently going through a bit of a rebuilding phase. The team finished the 2020-21 season with a record of 7-16 and missed out on the NCAA Tournament for the first time in four years.

However, there is reason for optimism for the Boilermakers heading into the future. The team has several young players who showed promise during the 2020-21 season, including Madison Layden and Kayana Traylor. If these players continue to develop, Purdue could once again become a force to be reckoned with in College Women's Basketball.

Overall, the Purdue Boilermakers Women's Basketball program has been one of the most respected and successful programs in the sport's history. While they may be going through a bit of a down period currently, there is no doubt that they will be back to their winning ways soon enough.
