The Division I matchup featured Bishop Hendricken High School and South Kingstown High School. This game was a close battle throughout, with both teams exchanging leads. In the end, Bishop Hendricken pulled away late to win 58-48 and claim their second straight state championship. Senior guard Sebastian Thomas led the way for the Hawks, scoring a game-high 19 points.
In the Division II championship game, defending champions Narragansett High School faced off against Westerly High School. Narragansett jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, winning 63-43 to repeat as champions. Senior guard Nick Simonelli had a big game for the Mariners, scoring a team-high 16 points.
The Division III championship game featured Coventry High School and Classical High School. This was another tightly contested game, with neither team able to pull away from the other. In the end, it was Coventry who came out on top, winning 53-48 to claim their first state championship since 2008. Junior guard Max Mandeville led the Oakers in scoring with 14 points.
Finally, the Division IV championship game featured St. Raphael Academy and Scituate High School. St. Raphael dominated this game from start to finish, winning 69-43 to claim their first state championship since 2015. Senior guard Jalen Kopecky was outstanding for the Saints, scoring a game-high 32 points.
Overall, the RIIL Boys High School Basketball Finals were a great showcase of some of the best high school basketball talent in the state. Congratulations to all the teams who participated and to the champions for their hard-fought victories. We can't wait to see what next year's tournament has in store!
