Steve Cunningham, also known as "USS" Cunningham, is a former two-time cruiserweight world champion who made a name for himself in the boxing world. He was born on July 15, 1976, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and started his professional boxing career in 2000.

Cunningham had an impressive amateur boxing record before turning pro with 56 wins out of 63 fights. In his professional boxing career, he won 29 out of 37 fights, 13 of them through knockouts. His first world title came in 2007 when he defeated Krzysztof Wlodarczyk to win the IBF cruiserweight title.

During his prime, Cunningham was considered one of the most skilled and versatile boxers in the division. He possessed an excellent blend of offense and defense and was famous for his speed and power. He fought some of the biggest names in the sport, including Tomasz Adamek, Amir Mansour, Yoan Pablo Hernandez, and Vyacheslav Glazkov.

He lost his titles to Adamek in 2008 but regained the IBF cruiserweight crown in 2010 by defeating Troy Ross. In 2013, he moved up to heavyweight and fought Tyson Fury in a highly entertaining bout. Although he lost the fight, he received praise for his grit and determination against a much larger opponent.

Besides boxing, Cunningham is also a former United States Navy sailor. He joined the navy at the age of 19 and served for four years before being honorably discharged in 2000. He has always credited his military experience for his mental toughness and discipline inside the ring.

Cunningham retired from professional boxing in 2017 after a defeat to Andrew Tabiti in what he called his last hurrah. However, he remains involved in the sport through various roles. He is a trainer, promoter, and commentator, and he also runs a gym in Pennsylvania where he trains upcoming boxers.

Cunningham's accomplishments in boxing have made him an icon in the sport, and his contribution to the cruiserweight division will always be remembered. He was a boxer who gave his all inside the ring and earned the respect and admiration of fighters and fans alike.
