The Toledo Crush is a semi-professional women’s football team based in Toledo, Ohio. The team was founded in 2010 and was originally part of the Women’s Football Alliance (WFA). However, in 2019 they made the move to the Women’s National Football Conference (WNFC), a newer league that focuses on developing women’s football at all levels.
The Crush have quickly become a force to be reckoned with in the WNFC. In their first season in the new league, they went undefeated in the regular season and advanced to the conference championship game. Unfortunately, they fell short in that game, but they bounced back in 2021 with an even stronger performance.
In 2021, the Crush again went undefeated in the regular season, outscoring their opponents by an impressive 388 points. They advanced to the playoffs and dominated their competition, winning both games by a combined score of 118-13. They advanced to the national championship game, where they faced off against the Utah Falconz.
In the championship game, the Toledo Crush showed just how dominant they can be. They took an early lead and never looked back, winning the game 46-0 to become the 2021 WNFC champions. The team’s quarterback, Ashleigh “Showtime” Hubbard, was named the championship game MVP after throwing for four touchdowns.
The success of the Toledo Crush is a testament to the talent and dedication of the players and coaches involved. Women’s football is still a growing sport, but teams like the Crush are helping to change that. They provide a platform for women to showcase their skills on the field, and they inspire young girls to get involved in the sport.
Football has a long history in Toledo, and the success of the Toledo Crush shows that the city is still a football town at heart.
