Valencia CF is one of the most storied clubs in European soccer. Founded in 1919, the Spanish club has a rich history that spans over a century, and it has enjoyed considerable success on both the domestic and international stage.

In terms of its record in Europe, Valencia CF is best known for its performances in the UEFA Champions League. The club has reached the final of the competition on two occasions, both of which came relatively recently in 2000 and 2001. Unfortunately for Valencia fans, though, they lost both finals - to Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, respectively.

Despite those disappointments, Valencia can certainly take pride in their overall European record. They have made it to the knockout stage of the Champions League 11 times, with their most recent appearance coming in the 2018-19 season. That campaign saw them come within a whisker of reaching the quarter-finals, as they were defeated by Atletico Madrid in the round of 16.

Alongside their Champions League exploits, Valencia has also impressed in other European competitions. They have won the now-defunct UEFA Cup (which later became the Europa League) on three occasions, making them one of the most successful teams in the competition's history. Their most recent triumph came in 2004, when they beat Olympique de Marseille in the final.

One of Valencia's key strengths in European competition has been their ability to create a formidable home atmosphere. Their Mestalla Stadium has long been regarded as one of the most intimidating venues in Europe, and countless visiting teams have struggled to cope with the noise and passion of the Valencia faithful.

In recent years, Valencia has faced some challenges, both on and off the pitch. Financial issues have hampered the club's progress, and there have been a number of high-profile departures, with the likes of David Villa, Juan Mata, and David Silva all leaving in search of pastures new.

Nonetheless, Valencia remains a major force in European soccer, and they have a dedicated fanbase that continues to support them through thick and thin. With a strong squad of players and an experienced coaching staff, the club will be looking to build on their recent successes and continue to make a name for themselves at the highest levels of the game.
