The Flash have won several championships throughout their history. The team won the United Soccer Leagues W-League championship in 2010 and 2011 before moving to the Women's Professional Soccer league in 2011. In their first year in the WPS, the Flash won the league championship, beating out the Philadelphia Independence in a dramatic penalty shootout.
The team spent three years in the WPS before it folded in 2012. However, the Flash was one of seven teams selected to join the newly-formed NWSL in 2013. Since then, the team has continued to be competitive, narrowly missing out on the playoffs in 2014 and making it to the semifinals in 2016.
Off the field, the Flash has been an important part of the local soccer community. The team has produced numerous players who have gone on to play for the U.S. Women's National Team, including Abby Wambach, Carli Lloyd, and Sydney Leroux.
