World Golf Championships (WGC) is a series of golf tournaments that is organized by the International Federation of PGA Tours. These events are considered to be some of the most prestigious in the world due to their high level of competition and significant prize money.

The PGA Tour, which is the main professional golf tour in the United States, hosts three of the four annual WGC events. The fourth event is hosted by the European Tour. The three WGC events hosted by the PGA Tour include the WGC-Mexico Championship, the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play, and the WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational.

The Mexico Championship is one of the newest events on the WGC calendar having started in 1999. It was previously known as the WGC Cadillac Championship before being relocated to Mexico in 2017. It is played at the Club de Golf Chapultepec, a course located in Mexico City.

The Dell Technologies Match Play, on the other hand, is a match play tournament, meaning the players go head to head against each other rather than just competing against the course. This event has also had a few name changes since its inception in 1999, with its current sponsor being Dell Technologies. This tournament is played at the Austin Country Club in Texas.

Lastly, the FedEx St. Jude Invitational was introduced in 1999 as the WGC-American Express Championship before changing its name multiple times. This tournament has been played at various locations throughout the years but currently takes place at the TPC Southwind course in Memphis, Tennessee.

Despite the fact that these events are not considered major championships, they attract a lot of top players as well, partly due to the significant purse on offer and the fact that it provides a good opportunity to earn valuable points for the Official World Golf Ranking. They also count towards FedEx Cup points, which is the end-of-season championship for the PGA Tour.

In summary, World Golf Championships are an important part of the golfing calendar as they provide a platform for top golfers to showcase their skills. Fans also get to enjoy world-class golf as they watch the best of the best come together in intense competition. These events play a critical role in shaping the future of professional golf and serve as a benchmark for measuring the success of players on the international stage.
