Al Kooper Biography
Al Kooper, born Alan Peter Kuperschmidt on February 5, 1944, is an American songwriter, record producer, and musician. He is best known for his work as a solo artist and as a member of the bands The Blues Project and Blood, Sweat & Tears.
Early Career
Kooper gained recognition in the 1960s for his session work as a keyboardist with Bob Dylan, including playing the iconic organ riff on "Like a Rolling Stone." He went on to form The Blues Project in 1965.
Musical Contributions
Throughout his career, Al Kooper has been a prolific songwriter and producer. His top songs include "Albert's Shuffle," "Jolie," "I Stand Alone," "Brand New Day," and "Season Of The Witch."
