Angel Romero is a world-renowned classical guitarist from Spain, known for his virtuosity and passionate performances. Born in Málaga, Andalusia, in 1946, he was destined to be a musician from a young age, as both of his parents were professional guitarists.

At the age of six, Romero started studying the guitar with his father, Celin Romero Sr., and later with his brothers Pepe and Celin Jr., forming the Romero Quartet in 1960. The group quickly rose to fame in Spain and performed all over Europe, before moving to the United States in 1957 to pursue their musical careers.

Romero's dedication to the classical guitar has resulted in countless recordings and collaborations with other artists, including Plácido Domingo, Luciano Pavarotti, and Leonard Bernstein. His technical skill, combined with his deep appreciation for the history and tradition of the art form, make him one of the most respected figures in the classical guitar world today.

One of Romero's most memorable performances was at the closing ceremony of the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, where he played the Concierto de Aranjuez by Joaquín Rodrigo for an audience of millions. He also made history as the first solo guitarist to perform at Carnegie Hall in New York City, further cementing his place as a true master of his craft.

Though Romero is often associated with the Spanish guitar repertoire, he has also branched out into other styles, including Latin American music, jazz, and even rock. In addition to being a performer, Romero is also deeply involved in educating and nurturing young talent, founding the San Francisco Conservatory of Music Guitar Department in 1993 and serving as its director until 2001.
