Leganes’ journey to Europe began in the 2017/18 season when they qualified for the Copa del Rey final against Barcelona. Although they lost the final, their impressive run earned them a spot in the 2018/19 UEFA Europa League qualification rounds.

The 2020/21 season saw Leganes relegated to the Segunda Division following a difficult campaign. However, the club remains focused on returning to the top-flight as soon as possible and will be hoping to build a solid foundation during their time in the second division.
Despite their current absence from top-level European competition, Leganes remains an important club in the Spanish soccer landscape. Their passionate fanbase and commitment to developing young talent make them a club to watch in the years to come.
Overall, CD Leganes’ brief stint in European football brought excitement to the club and its supporters. While they may need to wait a bit longer before experiencing European competition again, there’s no doubt that the club’s potential will allow them to rise to the occasion when the opportunity presents itself.
