Guy Lafleur is one of the most iconic names in the world of hockey. Known for his incredible speed, playmaking ability, and scoring prowess, Lafleur was a dominant player in the NHL throughout the 1970s and early 80s. But in 1984, after nearly 15 years in the league, Lafleur announced that he would be retiring from the sport. To celebrate his career, Lafleur embarked on a farewell tour across Canada, dubbed "La Tournée d'Adieu".

The tour began in November of 1984, with Lafleur playing one final game against every team in the NHL. The significance of the tour wasn't lost on fans or players, many of whom saw it as a chance to bid farewell to one of the greatest players in NHL history. For Lafleur, the tour was an opportunity to reflect on his career and give back to the fans who had supported him over the years.

Over the course of the tour, Lafleur played in 22 games and scored 7 goals. While those numbers may not have been quite as impressive as some of his past achievements (like his five straight 50-goal seasons), they were still a testament to his ability as a player even at the end of his career. And more importantly, they helped to make the tour a success, drawing crowds of thousands to each game and leaving fans with lasting memories of their favorite player.

But perhaps the most meaningful part of La Tournée d'Adieu was the impact it had on Lafleur himself. In interviews conducted during the tour, he spoke about how much the support of the fans meant to him, and how grateful he was to have had the opportunity to play the game he loved for so long. He also talked about his plans for the future, including spending more time with his family and pursuing other interests outside of hockey.

For many fans, the end of La Tournée d'Adieu was bittersweet. On one hand, they had been able to say goodbye to a beloved player and watch him skate for the last time. On the other hand, they were sad to see him go, knowing that the game would never quite be the same without him.

But for Lafleur, La Tournée d'Adieu was a fitting end to a legendary career. It allowed him to leave the game on his own terms, surrounded by the people who had supported him throughout his time in the NHL. And it gave fans one final chance to witness the magic of Guy Lafleur, a player whose impact on the sport will be felt for generations to come.
