History of S.O.D.
Stormtroopers of Death (S.O.D.) is an American crossover thrash band formed in New York City in 1985. The band was originally intended as a one-off project by members of Anthrax and Nuclear Assault but gained a cult following for their aggressive music style.
Formation and Early Years
S.O.D. was formed by Scott Ian and Charlie Benante of Anthrax, along with Dan Lilker of Nuclear Assault and Billy Milano. Their debut album "Speak English or Die" released in 1985 received both acclaim and controversy for its politically incorrect themes.
Musical Style
Known for their fast tempo, hardcore punk-influenced sound, and humorous lyrics, S.O.D. became pioneers of the crossover thrash genre. Their live performances are energetic and intense, making them a must-see for metal fans.
