Manchester Storm is a professional ice hockey team based in the city of Manchester, England. The club was formed in 1995 and quickly became one of the most successful teams in British ice hockey. Since its formation, the team has won numerous accolades, including four league titles and two Challenge Cup trophies.

The history of ice hockey in Manchester dates back to the early 1900s, when several teams were formed to play games on frozen ponds and lakes. However, it wasn't until the mid-90s that the sport really took off in the city, with the formation of the Manchester Storm.

In their first season, the Storm made a huge impact, winning the inaugural Ice Hockey Superleague (ISL) championship. They then went on to defend their title the following year, becoming the first team to win back-to-back ISL championships.

Over the years, the team has had many talented players, including Canadian forward Ivan Matulik, UK-born Chris McSorley, and American winger Mike Morin. Under the guidance of these players, as well as strong coaching and management staff, the Storm continued to perform at a high level and remained a threat in British ice hockey for over a decade.

Although the Storm disbanded in 2002 due to financial issues, they have left a lasting legacy in the city of Manchester. The team's success helped to raise the profile of ice hockey in the UK, making it more accessible to new fans and young players alike.

Today, Manchester is home to two ice hockey teams – the Manchester Storm, who reformed in 2015, and the Manchester Phoenix. Both teams play in the top tier of British ice hockey, demonstrating the ongoing popularity of the sport in the city.

Overall, the Manchester Storm will always be remembered as one of the most successful and influential teams in British ice hockey. Their achievements have helped to establish the sport in the UK and inspired a new generation of fans and players.
